Hey — before you use GoldScan, here's a quick rundown of what data we collect and what we do with it. No legalese, just the facts.

────────────────────────────────────────── What we collect (and why) ──────────────────────────────────────────

📷 Your camera We need it to scan gold items. That's literally it. We don't record video, we don't access your camera roll unless you choose a photo yourself.

📧 Your email / Apple ID Only if you create an account. We use it to identify you and sync your scans across devices. That's all.

🔍 Your scans When you save a scan, we store the item name, weight, karat estimate, valuation, condition, and image — on your device, and in your private cloud account if you're signed in.

💰 Gold prices We fetch live gold spot prices from an external API. No personal data leaves your phone for this.

🤖 AI analysis When you scan an item, the image is sent to Google's Gemini API to identify karats, hallmarks, and item type. Google processes it under their API terms (not their consumer products) — meaning they don't use your images to train AI models. More here: https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms

💳 Purchases Handled 100% by Apple. We never see your card details. Ever.

📊 Crash reports If the app crashes, we get an anonymized report via Firebase to fix the bug. Nothing personal in there.
